The production processes for beef, pork, and poultry use large volumes of water, generating effluents with abundant suspended solids and high Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). With the growing focus on sustainability agendas, effluent treatment is becoming even more relevant in the sector, especially given the demands of importing countries.
The need to properly manage wastewater intensifies as the sector becomes more pressured for sustainability, mainly due to demands from importers. In this context, wastewater treatment becomes an important ESG practice, directly linked to several of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In this segment, coagulants, flocculants, antifoams, and nutrients/enzymes are essential to handle turbidity and floc formation in primary treatment, control foam at different stages, and sustain the balance of the biological environment. With this, it is possible to increase treatment efficiency and reduce the need and costs for subsequent stages.
